The FasTracks system will be powered by buses and trains that will move more people with less air pollution. Less pollutants spewing into the air will help address our "brown cloud," seen above.
- Denver is out of compliance with federal ozone standards and routinely has unhealthy levels of a number of air pollutants in the air, especially during the summer. Motor vehicles are a key source of our growing air pollution problems.
- FasTracks would give more commuters affordable and efficient alternatives to driving. Fewer cars on the road mean fewer emissions of hazardous air pollutants like carbon monoxide, particulates, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds; it also means fewer climate change-inducing greenhouse gas emissions.
