Colorado is facing a transportation funding crisis. Our state's population is growing at one of the fastest paces in the country and we are driving more miles each year on our roadways. Our transportation infrastructure is old and deteriorating, yet funding for transportation infrastructure has been declining for years and we are now at a crisis point.

Union Station Redevelopment
Denver's historic Union Station is the subject of a large-scale redevelopment project. The Station, as well as 19.85 acres surrounding it, will be redeveloped into a transportation hub that will serve as the jewel of the FasTracks system, serving the needs of commuters, residents and tourists. The plan for this redevelopment includes a hub for transportation by foot, bicycle, bus, train and light rail, as well as residential, commercial and hotel development to support this hub.

I-70 Mountain Corridor
In November 2007, after the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for addressing congestion on the I-70 corridor did not even consider mass transit as an option, Governor Ritter directed the Colorado Department of Transportation to enter into a conflict resolution process with stakeholders in the ongoing debate over how to ease the congestion on I-70.

The Northwest Beltway
An unnecessary superhighway has been proposed between Broomfield and Golden, supposedly to alleviate traffic congestion. However, there has never been any data to back up the claim that this superhighway would have any positive effect on congestion. It seems that what this proposal is all about is paving the way for massive new developments on land that is currently open space in Jefferson County between Golden and Boulder.
