Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar deserves praise and encouragement for the steps he has taken to restore and establish balance to the BLM’s oil and gas leasing program. We admire an administration that recognizes that these lands belong to all Americans and that their values go beyond the single need for energy industry development. The Thompson Divide Coalition is currently working to protect the values we cherish in our wild lands: clean water and protected watersheds, clear air, wildlife and wildlife habitat, natural wilderness and roadless areas, access to hunting and fishing and appropriate recreational opportunities, protection of cultural, archeological and geologic sites and protection of agricultural lands and uses....
