Water flowing through the desert was one of many things that struck Zachariah Walker as he walked from one end of Dominguez Canyon to the other. Walker backpacked the 14-mile-long canyon last spring, where water runs year-round (except during periods of drought) and where the ecosystem changes from Douglas fir and spruce, to the lower desert's pinon pine and juniper. The area is part of the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Area that Interior Secretary Ken Salazar dedicated Tuesday at a ceremony held on a bluff overlooking the Gunnison River near the Bridgeport trailhead....
