Government groups wary of initiatives

Officials from local governmental bodies were warned Thursday evening of the alleged dangers posed to the economy and government’s ability to deliver basic services by three upcoming ballot initiatives, Proposition 101 and Amendment 60 and 61. Representatives of Colorado Counties Inc. (CCI), the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB), the Colorado Municipal League (CML), and the Special Districts Association (SDA) of Colorado met with local entities. Ann Terry from SDA told the meeting that the CCI, CASB, CML and SDA were all united in opposition to the initiatives. “We have all passed a resolution to oppose these ballot initiatives, so it’s time to get tough, it’s time to get together, it’s time go out and tell everyone that this is a bad, bad way to govern our state,” she said. “These three initiatives, separate or apart will undo government as we know it. It will undo state and local government as we know it, and it will also be an incredibly irresponsible way for us to allow our state and local governments to be governed. ...
