Get set for more clean energy! The Colorado Senate just passed a bill to increase Colorado's renewable energy standard for big utilities, moving the 2020 target from 20% to 30%. That's nearly one-third of electricity generation coming from sources like wind, solar, and agricultural biomass – and more jobs in all renewable sectors. The bill will now go on to the Governor, who will sign it into law.
But we need your help! Opponents of the bill are spreading baseless claims about the bill's cost, so it's very important to let your state senator know how you feel about the bill’s passage. Enter your information below, and we'll make sure your letter in support of clean energy is delivered to your state senator (Or look up your State Senator and make a phone call directly to them!)
The letter of support we'll deliver when you hit "submit" is:

As your constituent, I am excited about the passage of HB 1001, the bill to raise the renewable energy standard for big utilities to 30% by 2020. Today's 20% standard has brought tens of thousands of clean energy jobs and millions of investment dollars to Colorado. Raising the standard to 30% will bring more jobs, greater investment, and help reduce air, water, and global warming pollution.
A vote for HB1001 will help stabilize energy prices from the volatility of fossil fuel prices and keep Colorado a national leader in renewable energy! |
