Development Coordinator (Denver, full-time)

Position Overview:
The Development Coordinator will be an essential member of the Development Team at CEC. The Development Coordinator will be charged with ensuring that our donor database is accurate, member dues are renewed and contributions are carefully tracked and recorded. They will be responsible for testing and developing new solicitation and cultivation techniques for attracting and retaining new and current donors. They will also be expected to assist on logistics and planning for all fundraising events on the Front Range and West Slope, and in some cases will oversee all elements of the event.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinating membership cultivation and renewal process
     -Coordinate individual and coalition membership renewal and appeal efforts (via phone, email and mail)
     -Monitor and track renewal rates and share donor/membership reports with board and staff monthly
     -Work with Development Director to finesse fundraising messaging on all print and web materials
     -Ensure that all new members receive welcome packets and are integrated into all of our outreach efforts
2. Oversight of new donor prospecting and direct mail
     -Aggressively work to ensure that CEC has access to prospecting lists and prioritize growing our donor/member numbers with each year
     -Utilize and carefully track creative testing methods with each mailing
     -Oversee deadlines and elements of mailings, including bulk mail processes
     -Manage volunteers for mailing assembly, if need be
3. Managing all aspects of CEC’s database that relates to donor tracking
     -Regularly update/dedupe database and check member and donor lists for accuracy
     -Be able to create and pull reports from database on income/expense and translate these to the board and staff
     -Together with Administrative Director, troubleshoot issues with database as they arise
4. Supporting and/or overseeing events
     -Assist with logistics of Rebel with a Cause Gala and participate in Gala Planning Committee
     -Oversee 1-2 membership/small-donor fundraising events annually
     -Assist Development Director and/or field offices (Craig and Grand Junction) with annual fundraising events
5. Public Outreach
     -Conduct workplace giving and other donor outreach events

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position is outgoing and enthusiastic about working with people, has excellent communication and problem solving skills and most importantly, a passion for protecting Colorado’s wild lands and quality of life. Specific background requirements requested include:
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in nonprofit fundraising
• Familiarity with new trends in donor prospecting and retention
• Knowledge of fundraising databases and ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Savvy at social media and online fundraising
• Skilled at fundraising messaging
• Experience with fundraising events
• Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively
• Ability to multi-task and manage short- and long-term project deadlines
• Very capable using computers and databases
• Grantwriting skills a plus
• Superior communication skills, both on the phone and in person
• Desire to work in a team-oriented atmosphere

Special Job Requirements and Physical Demands:
This will be based in our Denver office, with some travel to our offices in Grand Junction and Craig required. Flexible work hours; some evening and weekend hours may occur. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this assignment. Employee regularly walks, bends, stoops, climbs stairs, and lifts up to 35 pounds.

Compensation:
This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package included. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
